Team KPMG is back!
Following a brief break at the end of 2020, KPMG ambassadors Phil Mickelson, Stacy Lewis and Maverick McNealy are back in competitive action this week on the PGA and LPGA Tours, looking to start 2021 on a high note.
Mickelson and McNealy begin their play in 2021 at The American Express in La Quinta, CA. Mickelson, who will tee off on a remarkable 30th PGA Tour season this week, enters the year after a successful 2020 campaign. The five-time major champion racked up several top-10s last year, but made the most noise on the PGA Tour Champions, winning wire-to-wire twice in the only two appearances of his PGA Tour Champions career. In 2021, Mickelson is focused on the PGA Tour and has set the goal of making his 15th consecutive FedEx Cup Playoffs and his 12th Ryder Cup, which are scheduled to take place toward the end of the season.
McNealy enters 2021 after a successful rookie campaign last year on the PGA Tour. McNealy notched five top-15 finishes in the 2020 season and was nominated for PGA Tour Rookie of the Year honors after being one of four rookies to make it to the second round of the FedEx Cup Playoffs. Maverick has already made seven starts in the wrap-around 2020-21 PGA Tour season, highlighted by a T12 finish at the Mayakoba Golf Classic last month.
Lewis starts her 2021 season this week at the Diamond Resorts Tournament of Champions, a limited field tournament that features the winners from the previous season. Lewis received an invitation after notching her first win as a mother, last July at the Ladies Scottish Open. The victory was the highlight of Lewis’ impressive 2020 season, which saw her jump 68 spots in the World Golf Rankings. Lewis will look to follow up with another successful campaign in 2021 in hopes of representing Team USA at the Tokyo Olympics and in the Solheim Cup this summer.
KPMG ambassadors Mariah Stackhouse and Leona Maguire will begin their LPGA campaigns next month at the Gainbridge Championship when the LPGA Tour season starts up to the rest of its competitors. Both young stars are in search of their first LPGA Tour victories this season.
