As the U.S. team looks to retain the Ryder Cup, they will have their work cut out for them to silence the pro-European crowd at Marco Simone Golf & Country Club in Rome, Italy. KPMG brand ambassador Collin Morikawa recognizes the challenge and is looking forward to the atmosphere of the event.
"My preparation stays the same no matter what," Morikawa said. "I think what it comes down to is learning what the fans are like, as they are such an important part to our sport. At the end of the day, the aim is to silence the audience with your level of skill."
This will be Morikawa's second Ryder Cup appearance, after going 3-0-1 in the 2021 event on U.S. soil. In doing so, 26-year-old became the first U.S. rookie to go 3-0-0 or better in Foursomes and Four-balls combined since Larry Nelson in 1979.
The action begins on Friday. Here is a breakdown of the competition:
Scoring Format - One point is up for grabs in each match, with a half-point going to each team in the event of a tie. Twenty-eight points will be awarded in total, with Team Europe needing to reach 14.5 to win. As the defending champions, the U.S. Team only needs 14 points to retain the Cup.
Go Collin and the U.S. Team!
