As the calendar turns to 2022, KPMG Brand Ambassador Maverick McNealy has already gotten a head start on a strong 2021-22 PGA Tour season. In his third full season on Tour, McNealy has carded four top-25 finishes in six events, including a runner-up finish at the Fortinet Championship in Napa back in September. He currently ranks 6th in scoring average on the season and will look to carry that momentum into the Sony Open in Hawaii this week. The tournament will be held at the Waialae Country Club in Honolulu, HI and will feature the first full field of the 2022 calendar year.
According to Golf Channel’s Ryan Lavner, McNealy is ready to make the leap.
“Our pick to break out [in 2022] is McNealy,” Lavner said. “An improved ball-striker thanks to his work with swing coach Butch Harmon, McNealy has nine top-25s in his last 14 starts, and the belief here is that he can comfortably climb into the top 50 in the world and secure his first appearance at the Tour Championship.”
