LPGA Returns to Action in Sunshine State

Stackhouse & Maguire Tee Off 2021 in Gainbridge LPGA

Following a one month break, the LPGA returns this weekend for the second tournament of the season. The Gainbridge LPGA, which will tee off on Thursday from Lake Nona Golf & Country Club in Orlando, Florida, marks the first event of 2021 for KPMG ambassadors Mariah Stackhouse and Leona Maguire.

2021 marks the fifth season on the LPGA Tour for Mariah Stackhouse. The four-time All-American out of Stanford University has carded at least one Top-10 performance each year on Tour, but her goal this season is to put herself in position to capture her first LPGA victory.

“I’m very comfortable on the LPGA Tour,” Stackhouse said. ‘I’m looking to elevate my consistency and performance week in and week out. I want to see a number of Top-10s this season and my biggest goal for 2021 is a win.”

Leona Maguire will also be in search of her first career LPGA victory when she begins her season later this week. Maguire, a four-time All-American out of Duke University, will look to build on her strong rookie campaign in 2020 which included three Top-20 finishes. Putting was a major focus for her last year and her hard work paid off. Maguire ranked first on the LPGA Tour in putting average during the 2020 season.

Stacy Lewis will make her second appearance of the year in the Gainbridge LPGA, having competed in the Diamond Resorts Tournament of Champions in January. Lewis notched her first win as a mother last July at the Ladies Scottish Open. The victory was the highlight of Lewis’ impressive 2020 season, which saw her jump 68 spots in the World Golf Rankings. Lewis will look to follow up with another successful campaign in 2021 in hopes of representing Team USA at the Tokyo Olympics and in the Solheim Cup this summer.
