2022 KPMG Golf Preview

A look ahead at the season to come for KPMG Ambassadors and golf properties

Happy New Year!

As we head into 2022, KPMG Golf is ready to tee off on what promises to be another exciting calendar year in professional golf.

Phil Mickelson is competing in his 31st PGA Tour season in this year and begins his 2022 campaign this week at the Sentry Tournament of Champions, qualifying for the star-studded field as a result of his victory of the 2021 PGA Championship at Kiawah. Mickelson also won four times in six starts on the PGA Tour Champions Tour, including the season-ending Charles Schwab Cup Championship. Phil is looking to keep his winning streak going in 2022.. Predicted by many in the golf world to be primed for a breakout season in 2022, Maverick McNealy enters the new year on a mission to claim his first PGA Tour victory. McNealy recorded two runner-up finishes in 2021 at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am and Fortinet Championship, and with nine top-25s in his last 14 starts, the table is set for McNealy to have a big 2022.

KPMG Ambassadors Stacy Lewis, Leona Maguire and Mariah Stackhouse will all be back in action on the LPGA Tour in 2022. Lewis, a 13-time winner on Tour, registered eight top-25s last season, and begins her 2022 campaign at the Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions later this month. Maguire had a breakout season in 2021, with multiple top-5 finishes and a historic performance for Team Europe at the 2021 Solheim Cup. Mariah Stackhouse, who will enter her sixth LPGA Tour season this year, is excited about the state of her game and ready to compete against the best players in the world. Both Maguire and Stackhouse are in search of their first LPGA Tour victories.

Also in 2022, KPMG will continue to raise the bar for the women’s game with the eighth annual KPMG Women’s PGA Championship and expansion of the KPMG Performance Insights program. The Championship heads to Washington, DC at historic Congressional Country Club this June, bringing the best field in women’s golf to one of the country’s most iconic venues. The KPMG Performance Insights program, which launched in 2021 and provides data insights and advanced performance analytics for the LPGA Tour, will build upon its foundation to improve player performance with enhanced shot-level data, including strokes gained and proximity averages.

There’s a lot to be excited about in 2022! Let’s go Team KPMG!
