Lewis selected for U.S. Solheim Cup squad

Two-time major champion set for fifth Solheim Cup appearance.

Stacy Lewis will represent Team USA at the upcoming 2019 Solheim Cup in Scotland.

The two-time major champion was selected to the squad Monday morning as a captain's pick, along with veteran Morgan Pressel, by U.S. Solheim Cup captain Julie Inkster.

"I was super excited to get the call from Julie," Lewis said. It's a goal I've been working on all year. To be there, to represent your country and be a part of a team, it's the coolest experience we have in our sport."

Inkster is counting on both Lewis and Pressel to provide some stability and experience for the U.S. squad.

"They've both been there and fit right in," Inskter said. "With what we are trying to do team-wise, they were just perfect fits. I needed some veteran leadership on my team and a lot of my team wanted them on the team."

Joining Lewis and Pressel on the U.S. roster are Lexi Thompson, Nelly Korda, Danielle Kang, Lizette Salas, Jessica Korda, Megan Khang, Marina Alex, Brittany Altomare, Angel Yin and Annie Park.

The 2019 Solheim Cup will take place September 13-15 at Gleneagles Golf Course in Scotland.
