Mickelson, McNealy return to PGA Tour competition

Charles Schwab Challenge marks first PGA Tour event in three months

Professional golf is back!

KPMG Brand Ambassadors Phil Mickelson and Maverick McNealy will be back in action this week at the Charles Schwab Challenge, the first PGA Tour tournament since the COVID-19 pandemic brought professional golf to a standstill in early March. The tournament, held at Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth, Texas, will take place under the PGA TOUR’s COVID-19 guidelines and fans will not be permitted to attend the event.

Mickelson is no stranger to Colonial Country Club, where he secured his 38th professional victory at the Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial back in 2008. Mickelson will be competing in one of the featured groups during the first two rounds, playing alongside Kevin Na, the Charles Schwab Challenge defending champion, and Gary Woodland, the reigning U.S. Open champion.

McNealy is looking to build upon the early success of his rookie season on the PGA Tour. McNealy posted three top-15 finishes in the last five tournaments that he participated in before the COVID-19 shutdown. His strongest performance came back in February, where he finished T5 at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am . Maverick recently caught up with Golf Magazine to share on what he’s been doing to keep his mind and golf game sharp in the time away from the PGA TOUR.

As one of the first professional sports back, fans will be excited to watch live sports again. Coverage begins on Thursday and Friday on Golf Channel from 4:00-7:00pm EDT and continues on CBS on Saturday and Sunday from 3:00-6:00pm EDT. Good luck to Phil and Maverick as they return to competition this week!
