Maverick McNealy continues strong rookie season

PGA Tour rookie cards second career top-10 finish

KPMG Brand Ambassador Maverick McNealy earned his second-best PGA TOUR result over Fourth of July weekend, finishing T-8 at the Rocket Mortgage Classic in Detroit. The PGA TOUR rookie carded a six-under (66) in his final round of play, which was the second-best score of the day behind tournament champion Bryson DeChambeau.

“It was a good day,” Maverick said of his final round. “I rode my putter all the way to the finish.”

Maverick’s performance adds to an impressive rookie season, which features 14 of 17 cuts made and seven top-30 finishes. Still, McNealy continues to strive for greater results. His goal for the rest of the season is to finish strong enough to reach the FedEx Cup Playoffs.

“Making East Lake is my goal this year,” he said. “I just want to give myself a chance there because if you make it there, you’ve got a chance for the FedEx Cup.”

McNealy and fellow KPMG Brand Ambassador Phil Mickelson tee off in the Workday Charity Open on Thursday. Good luck to both!
