Olafia and Mariah ready to tee it up in Phoenix
After a lengthy break in play, KPMG ambassadors Olafia Kristinsdottir and Mariah Stackhouse return to action this week for the LPGA Tour’s first event of the season on U.S. soil: the Bank of Hope Founders Cup in Phoenix, AZ.
Kristinsdottir returns to action for her third LPGA Tour event of the season, having last played in the ISPS Handa Women’s Australian Open where she missed the cut. Most recently, Kristinsdottir played in the Ladies Classic Bonville on the Ladies European Tour where she secured a T14 finish. This will be Olafia’s second appearance at the Bank of Hope Founders Cup. During her rookie campaign, Kristinsdottir came out firing with a 3-under (69) on the first day, but ended up missing the cut after carding an even-par (72) during round two. Olafia will look to use her experience from her first appearance to take advantage of a course that normally yields low scores.
Mariah Stackhouse tees it up this week for her second event of the year on the LPGA Tour. Stackhouse last played in the season’s opening event, the Pure Silk Bahamas, where she was in good form and secured a T11 finish. The Pure Silk Bahamas marked her second career top-15 finish on the LPGA Tour, with her first coming last year at the Thornberry Creek LPGA Classic. Stackhouse will look to come out strong, and record another great finish this week.
Kristinsdottir and Stackhouse will look to keep their strong playing going and come out on top in Phoenix, AZ. Tournament play is set to begin Thursday from Wildfire Golf Club.
