KPMG signs Ólafía Kristinsdóttir

Kristinsdóttir to join Stacy Lewis and Mariah Stackhouse as LPGA Tour Brand Ambassadors


REYKJAVIK, ICELAND / ORLANDO, January 19 - KPMG Iceland today announced a global sponsorship agreement with Icelandic professional golfer Ólafía Kristinsdóttir. The 24-year old from Reykjavik will join two-time LPGA major champion Stacy Lewis, ranked 14 th in the world, and rising star Mariah Stackhouse as a KPMG brand ambassador. Like her fellow ambassadors, Kristinsdóttir will display the KPMG logo on the front of her cap as she competes on the LPGA Tour in 2017.

Kristinsdóttir earned her LPGA Tour card for the 2017 season by finishing in 2 nd place at the final stage of LPGA Qualifying School in early December. In the process, she became the first Icelander to secure full-time status on the LPGA Tour. Her week was highlighted by a 2 nd round 66, and her impressive play continued through the weekend to finish one-stroke away from victory. A local star in Iceland, she had the largest galleries of the week, many of whom where Iceland natives who had made the trip to the United States to cheer on Ólafía.

Ólafía Kristinsdóttir’s Accomplishments
As an amateur, Ólafía Kristinsdóttir was an accomplished junior golfer in her home country, winning several junior tournaments and culminated by being named the “Most Talented Icelandic Women Golfer” in 2009. Kristinsdóttir was also the 2011, 2014 and 2016 Icelandic Champion and is a five-time Icelandic Golfer of the Year, most recently in 2016. This December she was 3 rd in the voting of 2016 Icelandic Athlete of the Year.

After completing her collegiate golf career at Wake Forest University in 2014, Ólafía turned professional in September of that year. A T25 finish at the 2015 Lalla Aicha Tour Qualifying Final Round earned her full playing privileges on the Ladies European Tour for the 2016 season. Her rookie season was highlighted by a T16 at the Tipsport Golf Masters and T26 at the Fatima Bint Mubarak Ladies Open.
